SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's goal with 6:08 remaining in double overtime lifted the Crusaders to a 2-1 win over Juniata College, in Landmark Conference field hockey action on Tuesday night in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Juniata took a 1-0 lead at the 25:47 mark of the second half, when Erin Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) scored off an assist from Molly Snyder (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area).

That lead held up until there was 8:24 remaining in the game, when the Crusaders' Courtney Salaman scored the game-tying goal off a scramble in front of the Juniata cage.

Neither team was able to score in the first overtime period, despite Juniata outshooting Susquehanna 3-1 in the frame. The Eagles were outshooting the Crusaders 4-0 in the second overtime period, until Susquehanna's Maggie Kramer beat Juniata goalie Abby Funk (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) with the Crusaders' only shot on goal of the period, with 6:08 left on the clock.

Susquehanna outshot Juniata by a slim 16-15 margin, and had a 12-11 advantage in penalty corners. Funk finished the night with seven saves over 94 minutes in goal, while Susquehanna goalie Erin Ferguson tallied nine saves.

The Eagle field hockey team will return to action on Thursday, Oct., 9, when it hosts Alvernia University at 4:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
