HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College defensive back Jordan Baird (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) has been named the Centennial Conference's Football Defensive Player of the Week, for the weekend of November 1.

Baird finished with 11 total tackles in Juniata's 12-0 loss at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, Nov. 1, including a game-high nine unassisted tackles, along with four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Baird forced fumbles on three of Johns Hopkins' first four possessions; one of those was on the Juniata six-yard line.

The four forced fumbles ties an NCAA Division III record for most forced fumbles in a single game, matching the mark set by Thomas More's Nick Rice, who recorded four forced fumbles against Franklin College on Oct. 11, 2002.

Baird is the second Juniata player this season to earn a Centennial player of the week award; kicker Andrew Masullo (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) earned a share of Special Teams Player of the Week honors on October 5, following Juniata's 12-10 win over McDaniel College.

Juniata (1-8, 1-6 Centennial) closes out its 2008 season this Saturday, Nov. 8, when it hosts Dickinson College (4-4, 3-3 Centennial) at Knox Stadium in Huntingdon, Pa. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
