SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Third-seeded Juniata College advanced to the Landmark Conference Field Hockey Tournament championship game, after upsetting second-seeded Susquehanna University, 2-1, Wednesday in Selinsgrove, Pa.

With the victory, Juniata advances to Saturday's Landmark championship game in Washington, D.C., against number one-seed Catholic University. Saturday's game will be a repeat of the 2007 Landmark title game, which Juniata won 2-1 in Washington, D.C. Game time for Saturday's Juniata-Catholic championship will be determined on Thursday.

Catholic knocked off the fourth seed, the University of Scranton, 1-0, in Wednesday's other semifinal contest.

The Crusaders' Andrea Fiori put Susquehanna (8-11) in front early, when she scored at the 26:12 mark of the opening frame. Fiori's goal, which beat Juniata goalie Abby Funk (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) to the bottom right corner of the cage, came off a pass from Maggie Kramer.

Juniata (8-12) knotted the game at 1-1 with 15:47 showing in the first, when Melissa Gorman (Boxborough, Mass./Boxborough) tipped Molly Snyder's (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) blast from outside the scoring circle on a penalty corner.

Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) scored what proved to be the game winner just 53 seconds into the second half, when she finished a series of passes on a Juniata penalty corner with a shot that beat Susquehanna goalie Erin Ferguson. Shauna Deschenes (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) was credited with the assist.

Funk finished with two saves on the three shots on goal she faced, while Ferguson tallied six saves. Juniata outshot Susquehanna by a healthy 17-7 margin, with the two teams each earning eight penalty corner opportunities.
