HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College junior Ryan Jones (Coudersport, Pa./Coudersport) scored 13 points while David Thompson (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) added 12, but it was not enough to tame a hot-shooting University of Scranton squad as the Eagles fell to the Royals 74-60, in Landmark Conference men's basketball action Friday night in Huntingdon, Pa.

Scranton (14-5, 6-2 Landmark) scored 12 of the game's first 15 points, and had a double-digit lead before the 10-minute mark of the opening half. The Royals took a 42-17 lead into the locker room at the break, after shooting 55.2% (16-29) from the floor in the first half while holding the Eagles to just 7-of-28 (25.0%) shooting.

Juniata (3-16, 1-7 Landmark) outscored Scranton 43-32 in the second half, but could not overcome the large halftime deficit.

The Eagles chipped away at the Royal lead throughout the second stanza, eventually cutting the margin to 12 points, 64-52, with 5:09 remaining in the game following a pair of free throws by Jones. Scranton's Paul Hawk responded with a three-pointer on the Royals' next trip up the floor, and a layup by Eli Londo shortly thereafter stretched the Scranton lead back to 17 points points.

Eric Mueseler (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, helping his Eagles outrebound the Royals 36-32 - including a 16-8 difference on the offensive glass.

Scranton had four players score in double-figures, led by Londo with 13 points off the bench.

Juniata will face Moravian College in another Landmark Conference doubleheader on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
