STEVENSON, Md. -- Juniata College used wins in two of three doubles matches as a springboard to an 8-1 win over Stevenson University, in women's tennis action Thursday in Stevenson, Md.

Juniata (13-4, 5-0 Landmark) opened the match with wins at no. 1 doubles by Maggie Wolenter (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) and Caroline Weisser (York, Pa./York Suburban), 8-2 over Tory Allinson and Maura Bernstein, followed by an 8-2 win at no. 3 doubles by Katie Steinour (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and Hilary Walsh (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area).

The Eagles picked up straight-set wins in all six singles matches, with Amanda Fontana (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) setting the tone at no. 1 singles with her 6-3, 6-0 victory over Allinson. Juniata's Wolenter captured her ninth-straight singles win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at no. 2 singles over Bernstein, and Jenny Wang (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) continued the momentum with a 6-2, 6-2 win at no. 3 singles over Stevenson's Samm Rasnake.

Weisser notched a 6-1, 6-2 victory at no. 4 singles over Stephanie Eyler, and Lauren Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) dominated her no. 5 singles match against the Mustangs' Izzy Kaizer with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Steinour capped the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Stevenson's Michelle Huber at no. 6 singles.

Juniata returns to the courts on Saturday, April 25, when the squad travels to Bethlehem, Pa., to face Moravian College.
