HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's tennis team posted its first win of the 2009-10 season on Sunday with an 8-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg.

Juniata (1-2) opened with a sweep of all three doubles matches, led by Maggie Wolenter (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) and Stacie Beegle (Schellsburg, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) with an 8-0 win at no. 2 doubles over Caitlin Royer and Jessica Karl. Both Wolenter and Beegle went on to post singles wins as well, Beegle with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory over Meghin Moore at no. 5 singles, and Wolenter with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) triumph over Karl at no. 3 singles.

Katie Healy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and Lauren Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) also enjoyed victories in both singles and doubles play.

Healy teamed with Amanda Fontana (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) for an 8-1 win over Lauren Hall and Jessica Kamp at no. 1 doubles, then notched a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Kamp at no. 2 singles.

Perow paired up with newcomer Jade Wronowski (Barto, Pa./Brandywine Heights) for an 8-5 win at no. 3 doubles, and capped her day with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Royer at no. 4 singles.

Penn State Harrisburg's lone win came at no. 1 singles, where Hall won by default over Fontana.

Juniata closes out its fall slate on Sunday, Sept. 27, when it hosts Lebanon Valley College on the Raffensburger Tennis Courts.
