HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College field hockey head coach Caroline Gillich is not settling after winning three consecutive Landmark Conference championships. She starts her 2010 recruiting class with Emma Dahmus, a center midfielder from Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown, Pa.

Dahmus, considered to be Gillich's top recruit, will be joining the Eagles fresh off a 2009 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc. (PIAA) AAA State Championship run. She also helped lead her team to the 2006 PIAA state championship.

"To put it simply, Emma is a champion. She is that player who will be in a full sweat in the first 5-10 minutes of a game," said Gillich. "She works tirelessly to support the ball. I know, with Emma on the field, we will always have an open pass. That is critical in hockey. It's a great passing game that you have to execute at maximum speed. Emma will enhance that part of our game."

Dahmus, a 2009 team captain, has exceeded on the field hockey field ever since her freshman season. Her team won the Keystone division in the Mid Penn League all four years. From there, Dahmus has collected three Mid Penn League Championships as well as the runner-up in 2009.

In addition, in her first three seasons as a Falcon (2006-2008), she helped take home the PIAA District 3 championship trophy.

Dahmus' four-year tenure ended with being named as a 2009 Mid Penn All-Star and being a part of the 2009 Patriot News' Big 11 Field Hockey Team.

"Emma is an intense competitor who is loved and respected by her teammates and coaches," stated Linda Kreiser, Lower Dauphin's head coach. "She is a team player whose skills, determination and leadership enabled the 2009 Lower Dauphin Field Hockey team to win the state championship."

Dahmus has also excelled in the classroom. She has earned a spot as a 2009 State Academic All-American as well as a 2009 National Academic All-American.

As a tribute to her athleticism and competitive nature, she even played a role on the 2009 PIAA Girls' Spring Soccer State Championship.

Kreiser continued, "We are excited that she chose to continue her field hockey and education at Juniata."
