Huntingdon, Pa. - Juniata College softball players Brandy Preslovich (Bald Eagle Area/Moshannon), a senior shortstop and Amy Gable (Kennard-Dale/Stewartstown), who was a pitcher and an outfielder on the 2002 team, were tabbed as Commonwealth Conference All-Stars. Preslovich earned a spot on the first team as a shortstop for the third time in four years, while Gable picked up second-squad laurels as a utility member of the team. Last spring, Gable was the Commonwealth Rookie of the Year and a first-team honoree. Preslovich received a first-team shortstop nod following the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Preslovich, who was a two-time first-team Commonwealth all-star in basketball at Juniata, hit over .400 for the third time in four years this past season. She paced the Eagles in batting average (.433), hits (39), runs scored (24), RBI (19), doubles (15), total bases (60), slugging percentage (.667), on-base percentage (.495).

Preslovich also had nine stolen bases on 12 attempts. Among the conference competitors, she ranked first in batting average, on-base percentage and doubles, second in slugging percentage, fifth in total bases and eighth in runs scored. Preslovich ended her career ranked first in batting average (.395), runs scored (62), doubles (36) and RBI (56) on the all-time lists at Juniata.

Gable posted a .340 batting average this spring to rank second among the Eagles. She had 34 hits during a team-best 100 at-bats and scored 19 runs, while knocking in five more. She paced Juniata in stolen bases with 16 on 19 tries and she handled 58 fielding chances without committing an error. In addition, Gable had four doubles and struck out just three times in 2002. She ranked third in the Commonwealth in stolen bases.

Off the rubber, Gable posted a respectable 5-4 record for the second straight year and she had a team-best 1.90 earned-run average. She threw 70 innings, seven complete games and struck out 18, while giving up just 19 earned runs.

Juniata ended the year at 14-14 overall and 5-7 in the Commonwealth.
The 14 victories marked a school record for wins in a season.
