HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- A cultural studies professor from the Czech Republic will speak on "Twenty Years after the Iron Curtain: Czech Political Culture in Transition" at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 25, in Good Hall Room 302 on the Juniata College campus.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Czech scholar Zden�?k Janík will discuss the successful establishment of democratic institutions since the fall of Communism, and whether Czech political culture has kept pace with the institutional changes or has been delayed by the legacy of the country's Communist past.

Janík teaches in the School of Education of Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, where he is professor and head of the cultural studies section of the Department of English Language and Literature.

He is currently on leave and teaching government at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. As an undergraduate and graduate student, he studied political science and English at Masaryk University and Central European University in Budapest.
