CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- Senior Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) and freshman Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) each set a pair of Juniata College records, highlighting Juniata results at the Western Pennsylvania Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Adamson Stadium.

Bailey set a new mark in the 10,000m with a time of 32:11.78, breaking the old mark of 32:39.40 set in 2006 by Chris Sheaffer. He was the lone Juniata athlete to win an individual event at the Western Pennsylvania meet.

TJ Breya (McClure, Pa./East Juniata) was second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.72 seconds, while Jeremy Boback (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) was third in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.90m. Ryan Johnson (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) was two spots behind Boback, finishing fifth with a mark of 40.50m. Johnson also finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 46.90m.

Ryan Baird (North Huntindon, Pa./Norwin) was tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.30m.

On the track, the Juniata team of Alex Shope (Hershey, Pa./Trinity), Breya, Nicholas Bauer (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) and Aaron McCoy (Muncy, Pa./Hughesville) placed third in the 4x100m relay, posting a time of 44.22 seconds.

In the women's competition, Shaffer won both the 100m hurdles and the high jump. Her time of 15.90 seconds in the 100m hurdles broke the old Juniata record of 15.96 seconds set in 2009 by Kelsey Buffenmyer. In the high jump, Shaffer cleared the bar at 1.62m. She also finished 10th in the long jump, with an effort of 4.66m.

Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Pa./Seton Keough) also took an individual first, winning the 3000m run with a time of 10:50.46 - slightly over two seconds off the school record.

Skylar Kulbacki (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.29m, and Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) was fifth in the 5000m with a time of 20:03.69.

The Juniata men's and women's track and field teams will be in Philadelphia this Saturday, competing at the Penn Invitational.
