HUNTINGDON, Pa. --Josef Michl, professor of chemistry at the University of Colorado, will speak on "A Possible Route to Cheaper Solar Electricity" as the featured speaker at Juniata College's Liberal Arts Symposium at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 21 in Alumni Hall in the Brumbaugh Academic Center.

Michl's research, in part, has looked at novel ideas for solar energy conversion.

He has been a professor of chemistry at Colorado since 1991 and has held a collaborative appointment at the Czech Academy of Science since 2006. He has taught as a visiting professor at a number of institutions, including the University of Valencia, Spain, the University of Seville, Spain, the University of Florida and Kyoto University in Japan.

Michl earned a master's degree from Charles University in 1961 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He went on to earn a doctoral degree in 1965 from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences.

He received a Fulbright Fellowship in 2006 and received the Patria Award from the government of the Czech Republic in 2005.
