HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Eagles added another top recruit to the Juniata College field hockey team when they received a commitment by Morgan Slovin (Wilmington, Del./ Charter School) to further her education at Juniata, and be a part of the field hockey team.

Slovin, a three year varsity starter from Wilmington Charter School, was named to the Second Team All-Conference field hockey team and received distinction among fellow athletes when she was named to the Academic All- Conference for field hockey and basketball. Slovin was also named to the Academic All-State field hockey and basketball team.

"Coach Vincent and I are very excited for Morgan to continue her field hockey career at Juniata! Morgan has worked extremely hard over the past four years here at Charter," said Charter School of Wilmington field hockey coach Stephanie Messinger. "She has developed the characteristics that are so important for success at the college level: competitiveness, determination, and dedication. As one of our top goal scorers this season, Morgan secured the team's victory against some difficult teams. She is an inspiration to so many underclassmen that see her unwillingness to settle! We wish her the best of luck at Juniata!"

Head coach Caroline Gillich will look to play the attack player primarily in the forward position.

"Morgan is a strong attack player with a natural touch on the ball. It's something that you cannot teach, you either have it or you don't," said Gillich. "She will add depth and scoring to our attack. We did not have any attack players in the previous class, so Morgan is an important addition to that unit. She will have the opportunity to play with and learn from our upperclassmen attackers."

Slovin's achievements did not stop in the field. She was a member of National Honor Society and has honor roll distinction.

"We are very excited to have Morgan in our family and our team, she has great positive energy," says Gillich. "As this class is beginning to take shape we see that they are the nicest kids off the field, but the fiercest competitors on the field. We cannot wait until they are all here!"

The Eagles finished their 2009 season with a 17-4 record and their third consecutive Landmark Championship title. Juniata made its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in its last six seasons. Coach Caroline Gillich has been with the Eagles for eleven season and has recorded 113 wins. The Eagles will return to preseason in August 2010.
