HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Down to its last chance, with a berth to the playoffs on the line, the Juniata College baseball team came away with an impressive 16-3 victory over the University of Scranton on Sunday, May 2.

The team sent John Love (Loysburg, Pa./Northern Bedford) to the hill, and he delivered with his best performance of the season, earning the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week award, released today, for his effort.

In his lone appearance of the week, Love went the distance against the Royals, pitching nine innings while only giving up three runs on eight hits. He struck out six batters in the process and only gave up two free bases.

The win moves Love to 2-4 on the season, and lowers his earned run average to 6.33 for the year. He is currently second on the team in strikeouts with 34 in 54 total innings pitched.

Winning two out of the three games against the Royals slides the Eagles into the fourth and final playoff position in the upcoming Landmark Conference championships starting Friday, May 7.

The Eagles will play the top seed and host, Moravian College, in game one of the double elimination tournament. First pitch is slated for 9:00 a.m.
