HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's soccer responded to Lycoming College's early three goal lead but finished one goal short in a 3-2 loss to the Warriors, Tuesday afternoon at Winton Hill Field.

Lycoming player Leslie Kester scored in the 19th minute to break the 0-0 seal with an assist from Kati Shaner. Shaner then a goal of her own in the 22nd minute with an assist from Kelly Prendergast.
Shaner was back at it again as she assisted Abigail Kantor in the 24th minute for Lycoming's final goal.

Juniata came out strong in the second half, challenging the Lycoming defense and spending most of the half possessing the ball. Freshman Jenna Rodrigue (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) assisted Caitlin Bigelow (La Mesa, Ca./The Academy of Our Lady of Peace) in the 57th minute to shake up Lycoming. Bigelow wanted more action, and put another in the back of the net in the 81st minute with an assist from Katie Keating (Huntingdon Pa./Huntingdon Area).

Bigelow now leads the team in scoring with four goals.

The last ten minutes of the game were a bit chaotic, with Lycoming clearing out any loose balls far and wide to spare time, and Juniata taking any chance they could to get the ball on the ground and finish.

Kristen Penska (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) played an outstanding 90 minutes in goal. She had three saves and often came out of the 18-yard box to clear out loose balls. Caitlin Dougherty also had three saves for Lycoming in her 90 minutes of play.

Next up, Juniata travels to Frostburg State to play on Saturday, Sept. 18, scheduled for a 1:00 match.
