HUNTINGDON Pa. -- Juniata College student-athlete Nikki Hankinson (New Baltimore, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) earned Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her performances last week.

After two years playing forward for Head Coach Scott McKenzie, Hankinson has made the switch to outside back this season. She has made the move from the glorified position with out any grievances and looks like a natural defender. She has been getting some doses on offense, kicking corners for the Eagles and creating some opportunities. She scored off of her own corner kick versus Westminster College.

Hankinson helped the Eagles close out the season with a strong defensive effort in a draw with Franklin & Marshall. She helped Juniata limit their opponent to just four shots and keep the offense down after surrendering an early lead as the Eagles fought back to secure a tie.

The team closed the regular season with a 2-2 tie against Franklin & Marshall with all four goals coming in the first 20 minutes. The Eagles are the third seed for the Landmark postseason and are making their third postseason appearance. It is the first time they've been higher than the four seed for the postseason and it will be the third road postseason match they've played when they take on Drew. The Eagles play at Drew University this Wednesday at 4:30 pm for the Semifinals.
