HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Dan Dubois, Juniata College's head men's soccer coach on a part-time basis since 2007, will transition to full-time status with additional duties effective immediately. Greg Curley, Juniata's interim director of athletics, made the announcement on Monday.
"I would like to thank the administration at Juniata for giving the men's soccer program the crucial next piece of the puzzle in our growth as a program," said Dubois. "All that any college coach wants to do is be able to focus on their sport and the student athletes with whom they come in contact, and this change to a full-time position at Juniata College will give me the opportunity to do just that with men's soccer and our track & field programs."
Dubois, who joined Juniata athletics as a part-time assistant men's and women's coach in 2004, will enter his fifth season at the helm of the men's soccer program in 2011.
He will also take on additional responsibilities as an assistant with the men's and women's track & field program, working with Juniata's sprinters and jumpers under head track & field coach Jon Cutright. Dubois has been working with Juniata's track & field athletes on a limited basis over the past two seasons. Additional administrative duties within the department will be assigned this summer.
"Dan has become an ever-increasing contributor to Juniata athletics across several areas, and this change in his employment status recognizes those efforts and hopefully secures his services to the college for the future," said Curley. "Dan is a talented young coach with a strong future, and I'm pleased he will continue to help develop our student-athletes in men's soccer and men's and women's track & field."
Over Dubois' first four seasons as head men's soccer coach, the Eagles have shown steady improvement both on the field and in the classroom.
After posting just three wins in 2007, Dubois' 2010 squad posted a 9-8-1 record - second-highest win total in program history, and Juniata men's soccer's second winning season on record. Dubois has a 24-43-3 record has Juniata's head men's soccer coach.
In the classroom, the team has maintained at least a 3.00 team grade point average over the last seven semesters, and has received the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in each of the last four seasons.
In addition to his work with Juniata men's soccer, Dubois has coached with the Huntingdon Soccer Club in each of the last three years.
Dubois arrived at Juniata from Southern Vermont College, where he was the Mountaineers' head men's soccer coach during the 2002 and 2003 seasons, posting a 6-27-1 record. He graduated from SVC in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts, after completing his soccer career as a four-year starter and senior captain for the Mountaineers. Dubois was ranked third among Southern Vermont's all-time leaders in goals, assists, and points, and was twice named an all-conference selection.
