GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's soccer team defeated Pitt-Greensburg, 2-0, in its season opener on Friday evening at Ridilla Field in Greensburg, Pa.

Freshman midfielder Robby Higgins (Middletown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) struck first for Juniata (1-0) in the sixth minute. Sophomore forward Evan Decker (New Berlin, Pa./Mifflinburg) gave the Eagles a security goal in the 62nd minute. Senior midfielder Evan LaTourrette (Stonybrook, N.Y./Ward Melville) was credited with both assists.

The back-and-forth competitive play between the Eagles and the Bobcats continued for much of the match, however, the Eagles were able to capitalize on key opportunities to clinch the victory.

Outshooting the Bobcats 13-7, eight Eagles registered at least one shot throughout the match. Returning goalkeeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) registered a single save on the day.

The Eagles return to the pitch on September 7 against Saint Vincent College at Detwiler Field in Huntingdon, Pa. at 7:00 pm.
