STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Juniata College forward Caitlin Bowman (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown) notched a goal and an assist to lead the the 16th-ranked Eagles to a 4-1 win over Stevens Institute of Technology, Sunday afternoon at South Track Field in State College, Pa.

Bowman opened the scoring for Juniata (2-0) barely 10 minutes into the contest, dribbling the ball through the top of the circle and beating Stevens goalie Caitlin Chamberlain with a shot from approximately 12 yards out. Senior forward Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) put the Eagles up 2-0 before the break, scoring from the left side from about 10 yards out off a pass from Bowman.

Freshman Kortney Showers (Aspers, Pa./Biglerville) tipped in a pass from Molly Snyder on a penalty corner with 26:14 showing in the second half, and Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) blasted a shot past Chamberlain approximately seven minutes later to extend the Juniata lead to 4-0.

Stevens avoided the shutout with 17:31 left in the second half, when Rachel Chavez tipped in Jillian Price's long pass from outside the circle for the Ducks' lone goal of the day.

Juniata goalie Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) logged four saves on the day while Molly Snyder (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) and Phillips each had a defensive save. Chamberlain tallied six saves on the afternoon in the Stevens cage.

Stevens outshot Juniata, 17-14, but the Eagles had a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. The Ducks were awarded 10 penalty corners to Juniata's three, including a 6-1 advantage in corners in the second half.

Juniata remains at home for its next game, a clash with Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 5:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
