TOWSON, Md. -- Juniata College field hockey dominated Goucher College in a Saturday afternoon road contest in a 3-1 Landmark Conference win.

Goucher (4-5, 0-2 LC) struck first in the 18th minute when Justine Ruhlin gathered the ball from a Juniata defender deflection in front of the goal face.

However, Juniata fought back and capitalized on a three-on-one scoring opportunity in the 24th minute for the first Eagle goal on the day. Sophomore Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) found senior Kara Buda (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) who pushed it by Goucher goalie Micki Manheimer.

The score was tied at one apiece heading into the second half of play when No. 19 Juniata (6-2, 1-0 LC) decided to pour it on for two more goals to clinch the victory over the Gophers.

In the 64th minute, Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) ripped a shot at the top of the scoring circle that whizzed past Goucher for an unassisted mark and the game winner. Just minutes later, junior Caroline Phillips (Wilmington, Del./Concord) assisted sophomore Liz Slimak (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) to her first goal this season.

The Eagles outshot the Gophers 27 to one and racked-up 21 penalty corners with Goucher only managing four.

Junior Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and freshman Shelby Miller (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) split goal responsibilities each playing 35 minutes. Neither registered a save on the day, and Howard allowed the lone Gopher goal.

Juniata returns home for a mid-week Landmark Conference rival game against Susquehanna University on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 4:00 p.m.
