Huntingdon, PA - Following a record-breaking season in which the team set a new school record for wins, three Juniata College field hockey players have earned Commonwealth Conference all-star honors. Jean Silvey (Red Lion/Airville) earned first-team recognition, while a pair of sophomores, Billie Rickenbaugh (East Juniata/McAlisterville) and Melonie Sappe' (Dallas/Shavertown) received second-team all-conference accolades.

Silvey, a junior midfielder, was second on the Eagles in goals, assists and points. She notched eight goals on the season, along with eight assists, good for 24 points, the ninth-highest single-season total in school history. She earned a conference "player of the week" honor when she scored two goals against Bridgewater, and assisted on the game-winning goal against Frostburg State.

Rickenbaugh led the Eagles in points tallying 25 points for the season, good for eighth-best in the Juniata record books. She had seven goals on the season, and her 11 assists were one away from tying the College Hill record for assists in a season. Her assist total was the third-highest in the conference, and she ranked eighth in the conference in points.

Sappe' was the anchor of a defense that held opponents to 32 goals on the season. By comparison, the Eagles scored 48 goals during the campaign. Sappe' registered a goals against average of 1.39 and a save percentage of .844. She set the school record for shutouts in a season as she kept opponents off the scoreboard in seven contests, and she allowed one goal or less in 13 of the Eagles' 21 games.

Juniata finished the 2002 season with a record of 13-8 and 3-4 in the Commonwealth Conference. Along with breaking the previous school record of 12 wins in a season, Juniata earned an ECAC playoff berth for the first time in school history.
