Pride Week is from April 12-19th.

Juniata's Pride Week is a series of events in mid-April allowing students to express their pride and learn about LGBT subjects. Corby Hess, co-president of All Ways of Loving (AWoL), discusses plans for Pride Week:

Q: What is Pride Week?

A: This is a week for AWoL to show Juniata College a little bit more about what is going on in the LGBT community and also a way for us to show our pride in a responsible and respectful way.

Q: What activities are planned for this year's Pride Week?

A: This year we are having a Coming Out Day where we write with chalk on the sidewalks in front of Ellis. Then we are having Straight Talk which is a panel that we invite all students to attend. It is a time for questions and answers regarding anything you would like to know about the LGBT community. Also, the Drag Show is a big part of Pride Week.

Q: What are the major issues currently affecting the LGBT community?

A: Well one of the biggest issues in my opinion is the fight for marriage equality.

Q: What do you think of the current attitude toward LGBT issues at Juniata?

A: I feel that Juniata is very welcoming and in my experience I have never had an issue with being a member of the LGBT community here at Juniata.

Q: What do you hope that Pride Week will accomplish at Juniata?

A: I hope for a better understanding of who AWoL is, as well as a chance for people who would like to know more about LGBT issues to ask questions and learn.
