Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College junior Ryan Genova (Antietam/Reading) earned EIVA Division III "player of the week" honors for his play with the men's volleyball team.

Juniata clinched the top seed in the EIVA D-III Championship and staked a claim at a top four finish in the Tait Division behind the efforts of Genova. In the Eagles only loss of the week, in which Juniata dropped a 1-3 decision to Penn State, Genova had 14 kills, 7 digs, and 1 block. As Juniata beat NYU 3-0 to clinch the D-III top seed, he had 14 kills, 2 aces, 2 digs, and 2 blocks. Finally, in a three game sweep over Concordia, Genova knocked down 11 kills, served 2 aces, brought up 5 digs, and scored on 2 blocks.

For the week, Genova averaged 3.90 kills/game and 13 kills per match. He also brought up 14 digs and had four aces and five blocks on the week.

Through the conclusion of the regular season, Genova leads the team in kills, kills per game and serve aces and is second on the squad with 90 digs. He has already set a new career high with his 301 kills this season, and his hitting percentage of .271 is 100 points better than his previous season best. Genova is also within reach of setting career-best marks in digs, serve aces and blocks this season.

With Genova playing a key role, Juniata finished the regular season with a record of 14-7 overall and 7-7 in the tough EIVA Tait Division. The Eagles are the number one ranked team in Division III according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, and have held that honor since late January. Juniata will host the EIVA Division III semifinals and finals April 5-6, and then will be hosting and participating in the Molten Division III National Championships April 11-12.
