HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Sarah Young Fisher, author of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Personal Finance in Your 20s and 30s" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Personal Finance in Your 40s and 50s" will present two sessions on personal finance topics Tuesday, April 22.

Fisher, a registered investment adviser and owner of Fisher Advisers, a financial planning consulting firm in Lancaster, Pa., will talk on personal finance at 4 p.m., in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science. This talk is aimed at an audience of community members, faculty and staff in their 30s 40s and 50s.

An evening presentation is aimed at financial planning for students and recent graduates at 7:30 p.m. in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science.

"We all need to deal with money at a certain point in our lives," says Michael Frandsen, assistant professor of business administration at Juniata. "The first step in being able to handle your money is to admit you may be idiot about money matters, but also that you are not afraid to learn."

Fisher has written four books about financial matters. In addition to the two "Complete Idiot's Guide to Personal Finance" guides, she also wrote "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Starting an Investment Club" and "Everything You Need to Know about Money and Investing: A Financial Expert Answers the 1,001 Most Frequently Asked Questions about Money."

A 1974 graduate of Juniata College who earned a bachelor's degree in math and biology, Fisher manages individual personal and retirement portfolios and provides estate planning and retirement planning for her clients. Her professional qualifications include ratings as a Certified Financial Planner, a Chartered Finacial Consultant and a Certified Financial Services Counselor. She also is an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service.

Before starting her own consulting business, Fisher worked as a trust officer for the Hershey Trust Co., and spent 13 years with the Fulton Bank Trust Department in Lancaster, Pa. as a vice president and senior trust officer. She also worked as a financial adviser with a brokerage firm.

She has earned degrees or certification from the Pennsylvania Bankers Trust School and the ABA National Graduate Trust School. She is currently working toward a master's degree in financial services from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Fisher is active in her local community, serving on a variety of boards of directors in the Lancaster area.
