On Thursday, April 28th, the Integrated Media Arts (IMA) department hosted a Student Premiere Night which featured the work of students from both the Digital Video Production (IM 360) and Video Production (IM399) courses under the supervision of Ryan Gibboney.

Sixteen Juniata students created original productions including source footage videos, kinetic-type videos and digital story telling. One of the pieces, entitled "Can We Auto-Correct Humanity," by Nora Chen, an international student from Taipei, Taiwan, highlighted the voice of Prince Ea, a Facebook public figure who originally made a video poem calling attention to the negative effects of technology and social media, particularly Facebook. Another work, called "Lie Awake," by Kien Le, another international student from Hanoi, Vietnam, raised awareness of domestic violence and abuse. Other videos included "International Students Struggles" by Haruka Kamegaya '18, "Juniata Voice" by Alex Stoudt '16, "Woody's Bar-B-Q Commercial" by Zach Guiciardi '17, and "What Do You Love About Huntingdon" by John Tomchick '16.

Megan Myers '16, presented her senior thesis called "No Experience Needed." "I wanted to challenge myself because I had never been a writer or a director in this capacity before. I made it a comedy because I wanted to work on it every day and everybody who worked with me to have a fun experience," she said. Myers directed, produced and wrote the entire script of the film.

"I came to support my friend Nora Chen, and to see the variety of projects that the students made," said Nahui Twomey-Jimenez, an international student from Mexico City. She was one of many students who came out to support their peers.

At the end of the night, Donna Weimer, the chair of communication and theater arts, congratulated the students for their talents and hard work. "It was an extraordinary opportunity for the rest of the campus to realize what work our students are doing with audio and video production. It's really a beautiful mosaic of who we want to be and who we are." Weimer also said that "it is clear to me that this will be perfect for freshman orientation and Inbound. I think that it is very important that the administration sees these videos."
