All classes are open to the community and are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Please see Enrollment Information to learn how to enroll your child!
Our adult:child ratios are well above those required by the PA Department of Welfare (our licensing entity) and NAEYC (our accreditation entity). The college practicum students not only help to increase the ratios but also positively add to the children's learning experiences and relationships.
Preschool Programs (maximum 18 children in each class)
The preschool programs for children ages 3 to 5 years, meet on Monday through Friday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 and Monday through Thursday afternoons from 12 to 3:00, with a full-day option. A typical preschool schedule consists of a group time, free choice and project time, snack, informal small group gatherings, clean up, and active play inside and outside. Please see the Daily Schedule under Calendars. The preschool classes are blended with the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit Program (TIU) to provide an inclusive learning environment. Please see Early Intervention for more information.
After the last day of preschool in May, we offer an extension of the Juniata College Program for the rest of the month. This program was developed as a response to families' requests for more time in the Center for their children! It is open to children, 3 to 5 years old, who are already enrolled in one of the preschool programs. The class schedule is the same as during the regular semester. Along with the TIU staff, the Master Teacher and two upper-class college students facilitate the program. Sign-up for this class occurs in April.
