She has special interest in issues that have particular relevance to women: date rape, spouse abuse & women, child care & careers. In addition, she serves as the 'philosopher in residence' on the joint College-J.C. Blair Hospital medical ethics committee and on several campus committees. She was awarded the Sears-Roebuck Foundation Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award in 1991.
