Facilities

Sam and Martha Brumbaugh Fitness Center

Fitness Center

The fitness center was opened in 1997 and immediately gave Juniata a training facility on par with any Division III facility in the country. A state-of-the-art 5,470 sq. ft. workout area features 55 pieces of strength, cardio, and free-weight equipment.

All of the facilities are supervised by Juniata's strength and conditioning coach Doug Smith, who is one of the most respected teachers in the field.

Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center

Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center

The Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center is the home base of the Juniata College athletic department. The building houses the Memorial Gymnasium, the Binder Natatorium, the Sam and Martha Brumbaugh Fitness Center along with the offices for all of the Eagle coaching staffs.

Kennedy was completed in 1983 and has recently undergone improvements to the competition surfaces along with locker room facilities. Also available are racquetball courts, sauna facilities, and Juniata's full-time training staff. Kennedy provides both the game and practice courts for Juniata's indoor winter sports with Memorial Gymnasium, and the full-sized intramural gym.

Knox Stadium

Knox Stadium

The stadiumis named for NFL coaching legend and Juniata College alumnus Chuck Knox '54. Permanent grandstands and a press box were added prior to the 1988 season, giving the facility a capacity of 3,000 fans.

The natural grass playing surface rates as one of the top natural surfaces in the conference. Eagle football players are part of a tradition that has seen Juniata compete in the same place for 83 seasons.

Surrounding the field is a six-lane track. The synthetic-rubber surface provides the Eagles with an all-weather training facility along with the ability to host outdoor meets.

Binder Natatorium

Binder Natatorium

Binder Natatorium is the home to the Juniata College women's swimming team. The six-lane pool is open to the public while also serving as the training and competition venue for the Eagle swimmers. The facility allows Juniata to hold dual meets as a main part of the schedule for the swimming program. The office for the swimming coach and pool director are directly adjacent to the pool, while a balcony allows for spectators to get a great view of the Juniata swimming action.

Memorial Gymnasium

Memorial Gymnasium

The Memorial Gymnasium hosts games and practices for the Eagle men's and women's basketball and volleyball teams. The 1,200-capacity arena has 800 permanent bleachers along with an additional 400 in auxiliary seating. The mezzanine surrounding the playing area allows for spectators to get different views of the action throughout the competitions.

Memorial Gym has been host for NCAA Division III volleyball semifinals and finals, the Molten Division III men's volleyball tournament, and numerous conference postseason events. The floor surface has been recently refinished, while the mezzanine area allows for two different Juniata varsity teams to hold practice while the main playing surface is in use.

The atmosphere within Memorial Gym during athletic competition is often regarded as some of the best in the area.

Winton Hill Fields

Home to Juniata’s field hockey, men’s soccer, and women’s soccer teams, the Winton Hill Field complex consists of an upper field, home to Juniata field hockey since 2000, and a lower field, which became the home to the Eagle soccer teams in 1999. In mid-fall, the Winton Hill Fields become a truly beautiful venue, with the Alleghenies and the borough of Huntingdon in the Juniata River valley below providing a stunning backdrop while watching Juniata's soccer and perennially-ranked field hockey teams.

The complex has received continuous upgrades, including a new irrigation system in 2002 and an improved drainage system in 2003. Both fields have natural grass surfaces, bleacher seating for approximately 200 fans with additional hillside seating, and sport-specific scoreboards.
