Points of Pride 2007-2008

• Three teams have earned Landmark Conference Championships in the league's inaugural season of competition: women's cross country, field hockey, and women's volleyball.
• Women's soccer finished among the top four in conference round-robin play, earning a slot in the Landmark Conference tournament - the first post-season berth in program history. The Eagles went 9-6-3 overall in 2007, their second-straight winning season.
• Seven Juniata teams advanced to NCAA or ECAC post-season competition in 2007-08: field hockey (NCAA), women's volleyball (NCAA), women's cross country (NCAA), men's cross country (NCAA), women's basketball (NCAA), men's basketball (ECAC) and women's soccer (ECAC). The field hockey team reached the regional final round ("elite eight"), beating defending-national champion Ursinus College in the regional semifinals. Women's volleyball reached the NCAA national semifinals for the 22nd time in program history.
• A total of 61 Juniata student-athletes have earned All-Conference honors in either the Centennial Conference (football), EIVA (men's volleyball) or Landmark Conference during 2007-08:

• The Women's Cross Country coaching staff, led by Head Coach Jon Cutright, was named 2007 Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year.
• The Baseball's Coaching Staff, led by Head Coach Tom Gibboney, was named 2008 Landmark Conference Baseball's Coaching Staff of the Year.
• A total of seven Juniata student-athletes have earned All-America honors in 2007-08:

  Four of the seven - Hassinger, Kozak, Sollenberger, and Powers- were first-time All-Americans, bringing Juniata's total to 107 All-Americans over the school's athletic history.
• Field hockey's Paula Price was named to Womensfieldhockey.com's All-Rookie Team.

• Amber Thomas was named the AVCA's Division III Player of the Year, becoming the third Eagle women's volleyball player to earn the award.
• Beth Kozak earned a slot on the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Third team in women's volleyball. Kozak is the first Juniata player to earn a spot on an Academic All-District squad since 2004 (Carli Dale and Erin Wisor), and the only Landmark Conference student-athlete on the list.
• Women's soccer senior goalkeeper Lisa Russo was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) / adidas Scholar All-America East Region team as an Honorable Mention selection.
• Women's cross country's Laura Rupprecht was named to the NCAA All-Mideast Regional team, after finishing 24th overall out of 267 runners in the 6000m event with a time of 22:44.
• Three Juniata College cross country runners - Aubrey Cyphert, Matt Bailey, and Sam Williams - were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams, for carrying a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA while finishing in the top 25 percent of the field at the NCAA regional cross country meet. In addition, both the men's and women's cross country teams received the team All-Academic honor for having a minimum team GPA of 3.10 while posting a team score at the NCAA regional.
• Named to the 2007-08 Landmark Conference All-Academic Teams were: Matt Bailey (men's cross country), Bryan Hess (men's soccer), Beth Kozak (women's volleyball), Amanda Wimer (field hockey), Kelly Ashcraft (women's basketball), Matt Booth (indoor track and field), Kelsey Buffenmyer (indoor track and field), and Kyle Opitz (men's basketball).
• Field hockey's Michelle Campbell was honored as one of the inaugural Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athletes. Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winners are chosen by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors, based upon their accomplishments in all areas of college life includings athletics, academics, and other extracurricular activities.
• A total of 86 Juniata College student-athletes have been named to Landmark Conference Academic Honor Rolls in 2007-08, and four members of the Juniata football team were named to the Centennial Conference Fall 2007 Academic Honor Roll.
• Juniata field hockey set a pair of program records in 2007, winning 21 games - most in program history, and shattering the old mark of 16 - with a 13-game winning streak, eclipsing the former record of nine. Both previous records were set during the 2006 season.
• Women's tennis notched a 7-2 victory over St. Francis University, a Division I program.
• Baseball matched the longest winning streak in program history by winning 11 straight games after returning from its spring break trip.
