Head Coach - Beth Bleil

Beth Bleil

The 2009 Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, Beth Bleil begins her fourth season as the Juniata College head women's tennis coach in 2009-10, after beginning her tenure prior to the 2006-07 academic year.

The Bleil-led Eagles posted a program-best 13-6 record in 2008-09, on their way to a second place finish in the Landmark Conference regular season standings. Juniata earned the no. 2 seed for the Landmark tournament, hosting Goucher College in a semifinal matchup.

Four of Bleil's players received All-Landmark Conference honors, including First team selections Amanda Fontana and Katie Healy. It marked the second straight year that Bleil had coached a Juniata women's tennis player to First team All-Conference honors in the Landmark; Maggie Wolenter was a First team honoree in 2008, after posting a 7-10 record at #2 singles.

In her first season at the helm of the women's team, the Eagles finished with a 7-5 overall record - the team's second straight winning season. Her career record heading into the 2009-10 campaign stands at 24-25.

Prior to accepting the position at Juniata, Bleil was a tennis instructor for The Racquet Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio. She taught tennis classes to youth and adults during that time and also helped support the recreation program. Bleil was also a tennis instructor for the recreation department at The Ohio State University, where she both taught classes and supervised the program. She is a USTA rated player and competes in USTA leagues.

Bleil's collegiate coaching experience comes on the soccer field where she spent a season as an assistant coach for the Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer program. The team earned a conference championship in that season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. She was also a volunteer assistant for the Ohio State women's club team for one year and has coached several youth and recreational teams throughout her career.

Bleil was a four-year competitor for the Juniata women's soccer team, including spending two seasons as the team captain. She was also voted as the team MVP following her sophomore and senior campaign. At the end of her senior year, she was the recipient of Juniata's John E. Blood Memorial Award, which is given to a senior student athlete who excels in both athletics and academics.

She graduated from Juniata in 1999 with a degree in communication and environmental studies. She then earned a Master of Arts degree in sports management from The Ohio State University in 2006.
