Larry Bock

Larry Bock is one of the most recognized names in collegiate volleyball. His list of accomplishments and awards places him among the most successful volleyball coaches in the country at any level:

Bock's 28th season ended with Juniata earning a 3-0 victory over Washington University (Mo.) to claim the program's first NCAA Division III Championship. Juniata then matched the feat in 2006 as the Eagles outlasted Washington 3-2 to claim its second National Championship. The appearance in the national championship match in 2006 was the seventh for Juniata, and marked the 21st time Juniata had reached the national semifinals. Juniata is the only team to appear in all 26 NCAA Division III Tournaments, and the Eagles have advanced to at least the quarterfinal round in each tournament. Juniata's 2006 national championship win gave Bock 78 victories in the NCAA Division III Tournament over his career.

Juniata's 41-1 record in 2006 record continued a trend that has existed since the 1980 season in which no Juniata women's volleyball team finished with fewer than 30 victories. Following the 2006 campaign the Eagles placed three players on the AVCA All-America team, giving Juniata a record 31 All-Americans during Bock's career on the bench. Bock has also helped two player earn Division III Player of the Year recognition, as the Eagles took home that honor in both 2004 and 2006. Under Bock's tenure the Eagles have also had three athletes named Academic All-Americans, including a women's volleyball Academic All-American of the Year in 2004.

In 1993, Bock's squad won its then school-record 52nd straight home match with an NCAA semifinal victory over California-San Diego. Bock's longest overall winning streak is 43 matches which came as Juniata posted a perfect 37-0 regular-season record but then fell to Washington in the NCAA Championship.

Bock has been the head coach since Juniata began varsity competition with an 11-0 regular season in 1977. Along with 18 straight MAC titles, Juniata owns a 271-match unbeaten streak in MAC play since 1981.

A 1971 graduate of Penn State University, Bock was named the director of athletics at Juniata in July of 1995. He was the head coach of the Juniata men's volleyball team for six seasons (1990-95), but he resigned those duties because of his new administrative role. During his tenure as men's coach, the Eagles posted three winning seasons and earned EIVA Division III titles in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

An avid golfer, with all his coaching achievements Bock may be most proud of the fact that he is three-time club champion at Standing Stone Country Club.

Bock resides in Huntingdon with his wife, Lyn. The couple has two children, Anne and Laura.

Associate Women's Volleyball Coach - Heather Pavlik

After seven seasons as an assistant coach for the Eagle squad, Heather Pavlik was named the associate head coach for Juniata prior to the 2003 campaign. She now handles all aspects of the Eagles coaching but specializes in the offensive side of the Eagle attack.

Pavlik, a 1995 graduate of Juniata, was a setter for the blue and gold and was the team's most valuable player in 1992 and 1994. She was also a first-team AVCA all-American from 1992 through 1994.

During the winter/spring from 1998 through 2001, she is an assistant coach with the Juniata men's volleyball team. During her first year with the Eagle men in 1998, Juniata won the Division III national championship and the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Division III crown. In 1999, she helped lead Juniata to its second straight EIVA Division III title and a fourth-place showing at the national tournament.

Pavlik was formerly Heather Blough before marrying Mark Pavlik, the head coach of the Penn State University men's volleyball program, in June of 1997. The couple lives in Cornpropst Mills, Pa., with their son Jackson.
