In addition to governmental agencies and academic institutions, a number of organizations work to improve local stream water quality, including the water quality of Spruce Creek and its tributaries. PA Cleanways has planned, directed, and implemented clean ups of abandoned dump sites. ClearWater Conservancy has actively acquired and improved watershed properties throughout Centre County, PA. Trout Unlimited has also played an active role in stream improvement and monitoring. These organizations have been, and will continue to be, critical to local stream quality improvements. Juniata Clean Water Partnership serves as a clearinghouse for water quality information about the entire Juniata River Watershed, including the Spruce Creek Watershed.
