Health Professions
Juniata's Health Professions Program, one of the largest on campus, is known for its excellence, innovation, and student-centered focus. The program has received high praise from alumni and health professionals, as well as a featured spot in Juniata's entry in the book Colleges That Change Lives by Loren Pope, Director of the College Placement Bureau. Our success is due to distinctive aspects of the Juniata curriculum and the personal attention we give our students. This results in excellent acceptance rates to professional school.
The program consists of a proactive advising service, formal affiliations with 16 professional schools in 14 different fields, internship and research opportunities, health-related extracurricular opportunities, and a broad spectrum of interdepartmental course offerings that help students prepare for a wide variety of careers in the health professions.
Juniata places great emphasis on ensuring that all students in the Health Professions Program receive up-to-date, accurate information, and personalized Committee services. Our philosophy is "once a Juniatian, always a Juniatian." This means that we support our students not only during their years at Juniata, but also indefinitely beyond graduation, as necessary.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Juniata College Health Professions Program is to give students essential knowledge, skills, and support to assist them in becoming competent and caring members of the health professions. Although our goals focus on training students to qualify for appropriate professional programs, our students receive more than preparation for professional school. Through course work, internships, independent study projects, and participation in extracurricular activities, such as HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), students in the program gain an in-depth interdisciplinary exposure to the health sciences. Such students are prepared to continue their education not only through further schooling but in the professional world at large.
