Elise Panko Fall 2012. Studied in Lille, France.

My name is Elise Panko and I’m a senior studying International Politics and French here at JC. Last year, I studied at the Université Catholique de Lille in Lille, France. Being abroad for an academic year was both challenging and rewarding. Adapting to a foreign culture and language was difficult at times, but I truly value the experience and knowledge I gained as a result. My most memorable times abroad were spent working with the Franco-American Club in Lille, teaching English to local adults. Speaking with students and adults while abroad gave me profound insight into both French and American cultures, which I hope to share with others while back at Juniata. I would love to share my own experience, or help other students form their own study abroad experience.

Chelsea Wilson Fall 2012. Studied in Chennai, India.

My name is Chelsea Wilson and I am currently a senior here at Juniata College. My POE is Sociology with a secondary emphasis in History.  I spent the spring semester of my junior year in Chennai, India. In addition to take classes in India, I completed a field placement at women rights organization called Women in Need where I worked with domestic violence victims and homeless children.
Studying abroad in India was an invaluable and life changing experience. I learned so much about the Indian culture and about myself as well. I came back from India more independent, confident, and appreciative of my life. Learning about different cultures and languages, as well as, sharing my experience with others is my passion. I advocate going abroad to anyone. Even if you don’t study abroad in college, make sure you go at some point. Living abroad is truly an incredible experience that I am grateful for. If you have any questions about my time in India, or study abroad in general don’t hesitate to ask!

Kerri Fritz Fall 2012. Studied in Guanajuato, Mexico.

My name is Kerri Fritz and I am currently a senior at Juniata College with a POE in Spanish and Hispanic Cultures. I studied abroad during the 2011-2012 academic year in Guanajuato, Mexico and had a four-month internship working in a government office in Guanajuato called the Office of Immigration Affairs. I also went to the Orizaba, Mexico program in the summer of 2010, where I stayed for two and a half months and had an internship in a physical therapy center. Studying abroad was one of the best experiences I’ve had in my short life! It made me realize what I really want to do as a profession, and opened my mind to so many new, exciting experiences. No matter where you go, travelling will change you. I encourage all students to take advantage of the Juniata programs, and find a way to go abroad at some point in their college careers, even if just for the summer of winter. If anyone wants to talk about studying abroad, or has questions, I’d be happy to help!
