Where will I be going?
You’re headed to the Université Catholique de Lille (The Catho), a large, private university located in the center of the city. Lille is an attractive and lively metropolis in northern France, also known as “The Gateway to Europe” because of its close proximity to Brussels, London, and Paris.

What will I be doing?
Learning!
During your 4-week stay in Lille, you will take courses at the Université Catholique de Lille in Culture et Société Française:
- Intensive French Language—level depends on your ability
- Intercultural Communication—taught in English
- French Culture and Society---taught in French
How much time is devoted to classes?
A typical day includes language classes from 9 a.m. to noon, an hour lunch break, followed by culture and communication classes in the afternoon. Evenings are free for homework, attending cultural events, shopping, visiting with new friends, and more. You will be working closely with French language instructors who will provide inspiration and plenty of ideas for lesson plans.
For 100 € more, you can take additional French conversation classes.
You will be having fun, too!
The Lille Summer Program provides a cultural program as well.
Usually included are:
- Field trips to Brussels, (the capital of Belgium), Brugge (the Belgian Venice), and Flanders
- The Museum of Fine Arts of Lille
- National Music Day
- Three group dinners to discover diverse culinary traditions
- Optional cultural events
- And more!
There will be opportunities for personal travel on weekends outside of the scheduled events, but they are not included in the program price.

Where will I be staying?
The Catho provides comfortable lodging in their campus housing. The single rooms contain a bed, desk, and a sink. Each floor shares a bathroom with private showers. Pillows, bedsheets, and blankets will be provided. Laundry rooms and T.V. lounges are in every dorm.
The program price includes breakfast in the dorm plus lunch in the university cafeteria on weekdays. Cooking facilities are available in each residence hall and Lille has many restaurants you can try.
Family members are not permitted to accompany you unless they participate in the program.
