Basic Information
Where will I be going?
Marburg is located in central Germany, about an hour north of Frankfurt, in the federal state of Hessen. This historic town boasts traditional houses which tower over the valley of the Lahn River. Above everything else sits the Landgrave Castle.
What will I be doing?
You will be attending classes at the Hessen International Summer University (ISU). The program includes weekend cultural excursions, parties, and evening lectures on politics, economics, and science. You will receive a total of 102 Act 48 hours.
Has Europe Learned from History? Cultural, Political, and Economic Perspectives of a Uniting Continent
Through this course of study, you will be studying German language and culture. The language classes, offered at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels and capped at 15 students, run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily.
In the afternoons, you will attend seminars and lectures in English and/or in German. You have two choices for your course of study: you may choose either Political Science and Economics or Cultural Studies. You will enroll in a minimum of two seminars (included in the program cost) and may, at an additional cost of 200 € each, enroll in one or two more.
You will be having fun, too!
The program includes various cultural trips and/or parties every weekend. Such trips include visits to museums, a romantic boat trip on the Rhine River, and a visit to a concert. Trips to several cities in Hessen are also included.
Where will I be staying?
You will be staying in student housing in the University. Bed sheets will be provided in each room. The room will have a sink, but the bathroom itself will be for the entire floor. There is a kitchen in every dorm. You will not have telephone, Internet, or TV in your room.
