Intercultural House
Site: 1610 Moore Street
- The top floor apartment has two shared bedrooms for four female residents.
- The bottom floor apartment has two shared bedrooms for four male residents.
- Each apartment offers kitchen facilities, a living/dining area and shared bathroom.
- Both apartments are fully furnished.
Purpose
- Promote the internationalization and diversity goals of Juniata College
- Provide an opportunity for a more in depth cultural interaction between international and domestic students
- Provide an alternative housing option for qualified mature international and domestic students
- Provide a closer knit community than that provided on the international floor
- Provide programming events which will incorporate the various international and multicultural groups on campus and introduce the campus to various intercultural experiences and diverse perspectives. (In 2005-06, the Residents hosted Muslim students for an Iftar meal during EID. They showed an international film and had a discussion following.)

Group composition
- 2 American students with diverse perspectives and backgrounds
- 2 degree students who are international
- 2 American students who have studied abroad (year or semester)
- 2 exchange students who are international
The group will self select a facilitator and a treasurer.

Expectations
The group will deal with all governance of house. All the residents will be expected to share in the maintenance of the house, the cost and preparation of meals and the management of any conflicts that may arise.
House members will work with their Resident Director to develop/revise a mission statement and goals for the academic year. House members will be expected to eat dinner together once a week. The house residents will be expected to provide at least monthly programmatic events related to cross-cultural living and understanding among themselves and plan and hold an event each semester that involves the campus community. House residents may use the experiences and learning as class projects for intercultural communication or conflict resolutions courses.
