A two-year information technologies internship at Geisinger Medical Center’s nursing department served Travis Raup well. So well in fact, that Geisinger asked Travis to come to work for them following his graduation from Juniata in the spring of 2011. During his internship, Travis built internal web applications for Geisinger’s nursing department. His impressive work convinced his team leaders to create a brand new position of system analyst associate. Travis was asked to fill it.
With graduation several months away, Travis is still enjoying the remainder of his college time and fulfilling his duties as Student Body President. Earlier this fall, Travis presented his convocation speech to the incoming freshman class of 2014. He built his speech upon the theme of how to succeed at Juniata College. His three tips were: get to know your professors, join a club or sport, and enjoy the next four years of college. Meanwhile, Travis and the student body executive board brought back a forgotten homecoming tradition to Juniata. Together they reintroduced the “Minute to Win It” games which were an immediate success with the participants and class supporters.
Continuing holiday festivities at Juniata, Travis and members of the executive board organized Halloween cookie decorating for the local trick-or-treaters. In December, all student body class officers and various religion club officers organize stress-relieving events such as photographs with the Eagle after dressing him as Santa. Juniata College looks forward to future contributions from Travis before he moves on to the working world.
