Debbie Trudeau

Debbie Trudeau is Director of Sinfonia and Lecturer in Music of violin and viola. Using traditional pedagogy, she is experienced with students ages 8 to 88, beginners to advanced levels teaching since 1973. She is a certified Teaching Artist with the Galaxy Arts in Education program of State College, PA and this work of combining music with core subjects informs her style as a private teacher.

An avid ensemble player, Ms. Trudeau performed for 20 years as Associate Concertmaster of the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra on both modern and baroque violin and with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. She performs locally with the Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra, Nittany Valley Symphony, and with the Altoona Symphony where she is Associate Concertmaster and a recent soloist in April 2008. A founding member of the AllegriĆ” Ensemble of flute, violin, and cello, Ms. Trudeau performs with the trio music of the Baroque and more contemporary repertoire in recital. Recent performances include the Juniata College concert series and First Thursday in State College, PA. She is actively involved in the revival of the Music at Penns Woods Festival.

Ms. Trudeau holds a Master of Music Performance degree from New England Conservatory of Music following studies with Dorothy DeLay on modern violin and Daniel Stepner on baroque violin. She received her Bachelor of Music Performance degree, cum laude, from San Jose State University and studied with Endre Granat at Cal. State University, Northridge.
