Curriculum
Peace and Conflict Studies is an interdisciplinary path. You have freedom to explore the wide variety of courses in Juniata's Liberal Arts catalog.
First Year
- Take Introduction to Conflict Resolution and Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies.
- Start, or continue, language studies.
- Investigate ideas in other academic disciplines. Start to see connections.
- Join PAX-O and work to eliminate landmines in Afghanistan and hunger in Huntingdon.
- Start thinking about where you'll study abroad your junior year.
Second Year
- Take Conflict Intervention.
- Make sure that you take the intro classes for the other discipline that you may have connected to PACS (for example; International Politics, Physics or World History).
- Continue your language studies.
- Start making plans to study abroad next year.
Third Year
- Study for a semester, the year, and/or the summer in Ireland, Belgium, Ecuador, Africa, India, or any of the other Eagles Abroad Sites.
- Think about your senior thesis. You may end up writing about this culture next year, but there are many other thesis opportunities.
- If you don't go abroad, then find an internship where you can explore options for your future.
Final Year
- Write your senior thesis.
- Use your experiences from another culture while diving into the upper level courses, such as The Idea of War; Self, Identity and Conflict; and Conflict Transformation.
- Take on a leadership role in PAX-O.
