PAX-O \PAKS-oh\ noun: 1. a group that will change the world; 2. Juniata's student peace organization.
What Does PAX-O Do?
- Raises money to eliminate landmines through a fundraiser called Night of 1000 Dinners
- Raises money (in conjunction with Mud Junkies
Juniata's potters) to eliminate hunger in Huntingdon
by hosting the Empty Bowls dinner - Attends conferences and demonstrations
- Works to increase voter participation
- Hosts speakers and shows films to increase awareness of international conflicts. Previous topics have included Sudan, Afghanistan, child soldiers, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, conscientious objection and a panel featuring Iraq War veterans, which provided a broad spectrum of opinions
