Professor Rhodes came to Juniata in 1980 with a B.S. and M.S. in computer science and later went on to complete his Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University also in computer science. He held assistantships in both the College of Science and the College of Education and was a member of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor society of computer science.
His interests include computer architecture, VLSI CAD systems, networks, software design, programming languages and paradigms, and the use and impact of computer and Internet technology on instruction. Dr. Rhodes received Juniata's Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1986 and is a member of the Association of Computing Machinery. He is currently serving as endowed chair of the Information Technology and Computer Science Department and has served on a number of Juniata standing committees as well as the Information Technology Task Force, curriculum reviews and Middle States Study committees.
During his Fall 1999 sabbatical, Dr. Rhodes spent time working with a start-up company, Avail Technologies, Inc., helping to design intelligent transportation tracking systems based on GPS and web technologies.
In the community, Dr. Rhodes has served as a member of the Camp Blue Diamond Board of Directors and Stone Church Leadership Team. He and his wife, Rev. Donna McKee Rhodes '84, have three children; he enjoys music, piano, organ and choral ensembles; and helps with many of their children's extra-curricular activities.
