Where We Are Now

This winter, Juniata's administration moved out of Founders so crews could begin work on the restoration and expansion of the building, embarking on what will be the last major overhaul of a campus structure during Tom Kepple's presidency.
See the webcam.
The restoration of Founders will accomplish two very important things:
- return Juniata's central symbol to its former glory, and
- provide a home for the Departments of History and English at the heart of campus, to bring teaching back into Founders.
For an institution as focused on student success as ours, it is only right that as the President and Provost work, they can hear the lively debate from classrooms nearby.
Restoration (rather than simple renovation) is a new focus for our work on Founders--a focus that the generosity of many Juniatians is making possible.
How We've Prepared
- We hired architects to develop plans for restoration and expansion, focusing not only on returning the top two floors to working order, but going further, to adapt the building so that it could accommodate faculty and students again.
- We replaced windows, entrances and sidewalks, in coordination with the overall plan.
- We made extensive overhauls to the systems leading up to the building, including water, steam lines, and computer and phone lines.
Those improvements laid the groundwork for a revitalized Founders Hall. As we have made progress, more people have joined in the effort and made gifts to help restore Founders. Those gifts helped us progress to the point where we are no longer so much renovating a building as restoring the heart of campus.
Look Around!
Browse through the Web pages: look at floor plans, check out and contribute to the photo gallery, watch the progress first-hand with our Web cam, and be sure to see if your name is on the chalkboard.
Take pride in what you are making possible. Because of you, we are well on our way to restoring the heart of Juniata.
