Dear Friends,

We finished the giving year in 2009-2010 with very strong results, with your contributions to the Juniata Scholarship Fund helping it reach an unprecedented level. As a result, this year the Juniata Scholarship Fund will provide more than 450 scholarships to assist academically qualified students whose financial situation makes it particularly challenging to attend Juniata. You have taken the Juniata experience from dream to reality for many individuals. Thank you.

In these tough economic times, the Juniata Scholarship Fund is even more important as the College's most powerful tool for assisting students now.

Juniata's alumni, the parents of our students, and friends of the College gave enough to exceed fundraising goals this past year. More people made a gift as well, meaning we achieved strong results based on the percentage of alumni who make a gift of any kind to Juniata. Alumni giving participation is important in several ways. For example, foundations and corporations that provide millions of dollars in grants use alumni participation in their formulas for determining which colleges receive their support. Various rankings also consider participation. Strong alumni participation has helped Juniata earn its place among the best in higher education. Finally, many parents inquire about how the College is supported by its alumni, and participation percentage is one persuasive measure to share with them.

Increased alumni participation (this past year at 31%) is essential. So, I am asking each Juniata alum, especially if you haven't made a gift in the past, to reflect on your own Juniata experience. What made the biggest impact on your life? Was it the strong academics, the athletics, the relationships with faculty, the friendships, or perhaps the traditions that make Juniata what it is? By making a gift to the Juniata Scholarship Fund, you ensure that the Juniata experience is accessible for future generations.

One average Juniata Scholarship Fund award is $2,390. A gift at or above that level provides membership in Juniata's President's Circle. This recognition level was created specifically for JSF because it is the top funding priority at Juniata. Gifts at this leadership level are certainly appreciated, but all gifts are meaningful, and your gift is crucial if we are to remain competitive with our peers.
