Current Challenges
Changing Lives One Scholarship at a Time
Dear Friends,
Juniata's focus on student need-based scholarships is causing quite a buzz in higher education, and other schools are starting to follow our lead! It is truly exciting to know that every dollar given to the Juniata Scholarship Fund (JSF) is awarded to an academically qualified student with need.
Believe it or not, the $910,000 contributed last year was just a portion of the amount needed by our students. The average Juniata student needs more than $8,000 to fund a year at Juniata even after family contribution, merit scholarships, grants, and loans are taken into account. Currently, we are providing those students with, on average, one need-based scholarship valued at $2,150, still leaving over $6,000 per student to fund.
Can you imagine what we could do if every donor would increase their gift each year? If 1000 donors would contribute an extra $100 (or more if you can), we could provide 46 additional scholarships of $2,150 each.
In my view, there is no single more important thing we can do than continue changing lives and shaping the future with our gifts. To every one of you who will share in this mission by making a new gift between June 1 and May 31, my personal thanks and heartfelt gratitude. Let's all be one of a thousand, and in the eyes of Juniata students...one in a million!
