Thank You Letters

Patrick Rea

Program of Emphasis: Geology

Hometown: Hollidaysburg, PA

High School: Bishop Guilfoyle High School

Why I chose to attend Juniata: The programs and classes seemed personal and I had more opportunities to express myself. In addition, the significant financial assistance I would receive from Juniata has allowed me to take advantage of more opportunities that I would not normally be able to take such as going abroad.

Clubs and Organizations: I currently participate in the Catholic Council and Christian Ministry Board on campus and frequently do service work, in addition to acting as a cantor at mass. I also participate in the campus Geology Club which recently had an overnight camping experience and will be exploring caves later in the year. I help with instrumental music at Juniata by accompanying the ensembles on the piano or synthesizer to fill in for parts that may not otherwise be played, in addition to playing at the solo recitals.

Most Interesting Class: Historical geology is incredibly interesting as I am learning about the basic functions that have forged our earth over the last 4.5 billion years. We are now going through the history of the planet and how it evolved from a desolate rock to a booming place of rampant and diverse life.

Favorite Faculty Member: Dr. Shelley, director of the Concert Choir, has given me so many musical opportunities in which I have had the chance to go abroad and meet so many people who share my interests. Through his encouragement and determination of success, I have raised my musical standards to near perfection and that has been reflected throughout my entire college career thus far.
