High School: Altoona Area Sr High School

Why I chose to attend Juniata: My decision to attend Juniata College was due to various reasons. First and foremost, both of my parents attended the College, as well as one of my sisters. The College has been a part of my family for quite some time now. Additionally, I loved the small-town feel of the school. Students, staff, faculty, and all of those who make up the college community are friendly, inviting, and willing to lend out a helping hand when needed. The most influential reason for my enrollment at Juniata was all of the financial aid and support that I received in order to further my education. I am so grateful and appreciative of this. I am quite lucky to have these opportunities too. Juniata College is a gem; no other school is like it. I would not want to be at any other institution.

Clubs and Organizations: The Society of Physics Students (SPS): This particular club runs the annual event "Physics Fun Night" for the local Huntingdon community, where physics students, like myself, perform short demonstrations to teach a general audience some basic physics principles. Similar demonstrations are done at "Mall Physics" at the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona. SPS at Juniata is one branch of the National Society of Physics Students. Juniata College Concert Band: The school's concert band performs a concert in Rosenberger Auditorium in late fall and spring. I play trumpet for this group. Music has always been an intricate part of my life and provides a great outlet from the stresses of schoolwork.

Most Interesting Class: The most interesting class that I have taken this year is University Physics. In this class, I am able to learn about a variety of topics from projectile motion, to Newton's laws of motion, and even musical acoustics, as a way to better understand how the world works. Everyday things, such as driving a car, can have very complex and detailed motion once analyzed. Gaining a more in-depth understanding of the world through physics makes this class both fun and useful.

Favorite Faculty Member: Jane Croyle has made the biggest difference in my life here at Juniata College. I am her student assistant in Good Hall. She is always so kind and appreciative for any help that I can give her in the office. She is genuinely concerned about my well-being, and always wants to know how my week is going. I look forward to working with her. People that are as kind and hardworking as her are hard to come by.
