Elena Woiciechowska
Program of Emphasis: Biochemistry, French
Hometown: State College, PA
High School: State College Area High School
Why I chose to attend Juniata: I chose Juniata because it just felt right. I came to Juniata for a model UN conference and was just convinced it is where I wanted to go.
Clubs and Organizations: I participate in the Dance Ensemble club and as well as French club.
Travels Abroad: I studied abroad in Lille, France. The highlight of my experience was the opportunity to learn French while taking all of my courses in a different language. I also got the opportunity to travel to many countries in Europe that made me learn a lot about the world as well as my home and myself. I was also able to meet so many wonderful people and build friendships that will last forever.
Most Interesting Class: The most interesting class I took this year is Biochemistry. It is something I was very interested in the beginning. But having the opportunity to finally take it makes me realize how fascinating it is to have the ability to take a pencil and be able to model exactly how living organisms are able to metabolize sugars which provides them energy.
Favorite Faculty Member: The faculty member at Juniata that made a difference in my life is Dr. Kirchof-Glazier or Dr. KG as she is well known on campus. She just has so much energy all of the time and she sincerely cares about her students. Not only is she very intelligent in her field she always has advice in so many other different aspects of life. I aspire to be like Dr. KG and I hope one day I can live a similar life as she does. She makes such a difference for her students and she must not even realize.
Thank you!
The amount of gratitude that I have for anyone who has provided me any help in order to earn my Juniata education would not be able to fit in the space provided. But I will take the space I have to provide a few highlights of what it means to me to have this scholarship from the Class of 1975. They say people do not appreciate things until they are gone and I found truth in that statement last year during my year abroad. I enjoyed my time abroad very much, but I also realized how fortunate I am to be able to go to Juniata College. Since the beginning I knew how lucky I was to have the resources and most importantly to be surrounded by such wonderful people. The Juniata community has provided me the valuable education I seek in so many ways. When I am at Juniata I feel like I am able to improve myself in not only my education but grow as a person. This is all thanks to not only the professors that challenge me on a daily basis but as well as the other students. I couldn't have imagined a better place to earn my knowledge. With that being said I could not imagine not being able to go here for financial reasons. I am so thankful I can continue to go here and to complete all four years. Thank you again.
Gratefully yours,
