Why I chose to attend Juniata: I chose to attend Juniata College because of Juniata alumni I have met, the college's prestigious academic reputation and the opportunity to play college football. I live in Altoona, which is only about 45 minutes away from Juniata. All of the Juniata alumni that I know in my town are excellent role models. I could only hope to be as benevolent and successful as these Juniata graduates. I have set extremely high career goals for myself, but I know that a degree from Juniata will give me a competitive edge in the job market. The opportunity to play college football has been the icing on the cake. There is no school in the country where alumni relationships, academics, and athletics are as strong and successful as Juniata.

Most Interesting Class: The most interesting class I have taken this year has been Congress and the Presidency. I have learned a lot more about the procedures and structure of both chambers of Congress and the presidency. Since we had a presidential election this year, everything I have learned in class is relevant to current events.

Favorite Faculty Member: Dr. Dennis Plane has made a difference in my life. Ever since my first days on campus,I have turned to him for advice regarding my POE. Dr. Plane has taught me more about American politics in a year and a half than I ever could have imagined. He has given me information about future career opportunities, internships, academic seminars, etc. I am grateful for all the lessons Dr. Plane has taught me and the advice he has provided for me both as a student and someone interested in a career in politics.

I would like to thank the Juniata College class of 1960 for providing my Juniata Scholarship Fund award this year. My parents are currently paying for my sister and me to go to college. Next fall, my youngest brother will also be attending college. Needless to say, my family and I appreciate even the smallest amount of financial assistance. This award means everything to me. It has allowed me to continue to attend Juniata College, to continue pursing my dreams, and to continue to grow as an individual. Without this financial support, I would not be the student and young man that I am today.
