Why I chose to attend Juniata: I chose to attend Juniata College because of the calming atmosphere. The people here are incredible and they are here to help you succeed, rather than treat you like a number. I love knowing that I am at a place where people actually care about me and want me to do whatever my heart desires when it comes to my major. Juniata is so flexible and they are here to make your journey comfortable, yet challenging and that is what I love. So what's not to like about Juniata College?
Most Interesting Class: The most interesting class I have taken so far would have to be Acting I with Professor Neal Utterback. I chose this class because even though I am a math major, I am in love with performing arts, which is something I want to do in life. This class has provided me to view acting in a whole other light. I realized you cannot just step onto the stage and perform; it takes more than that to be an extraordinary actor/actress. I am also learning so many things about myself and I am going down a path where I can express myself to be whomever I want to be.
Favorite Faculty Member: Professor Neal Utterback has made a huge difference in my life. He has provided me with the tools to express myself and not worry about who may judge me. I am also learning to not judge others and how everyone is created differently for a purpose. I am learning to be comfortable in my own skin and brave enough to perform in front of others. I now feel the courage to be me!
Thank you!
Dear Class of 2008,
I would just like to thank you so much for what you have provided me. I could not have asked for such an incredible group to receive this. This scholarship has helped me in so many ways. It has relieved the stress off of my mothers shoulders, as well as mine. My mom is a single mother who has raised three children on her own due to the lack of my father's participation.
I am now able to focus on my studies and enjoy the full college experience that I have always dreamed of, and now my mom can live happily knowing her second daughter is the first to attend a four year college, but this would not have happened if it were not for your generosity. It means so much to me that people like you can put your time into changing peoples lives.
I honestly do not know where I would be if I did not receive financial support. I would either be getting a job trying to save up for college next year, or I would be attending a community college hoping my mother and I can make the best of it.
I just want to thank you all so very much, and I promise to make you all proud. I will never forget what you have done for me. Hopefully I can make this happen for someone who needs it more than me someday.
Again, thank you and God Bless.
Gratefully,
Khadejia Norman
