Program of Emphasis: biology/premedicine
Hometown: Tyrone, PA
High School: Bellwood-Antis High School
Why I chose to attend Juniata: I chose Juniata because there was a sense of belonging. After being contacted by the cheerleading coaches, having multiple offers for my successes in high school and the overall reputation the science program at Juniata holds, the opportunity was too good to end up at another school.
Clubs and Organizations: Eagle Ambassador HOSA Juniata Concert Choir CWS Lab Leader
Varsity Sports: If cheerleading is considered part of this category, I am a flyer.
Internship: Altoona Family Physicians 240 hour internship over winter break/summer, which starts in the new year.
Most Interesting Class: I wasn't too fond of my classes this semester because they're all still prerequisites, but I would have to say my biology class. I enjoy actually learning material that pertains to everyday life because it holds more relevance for knowing. It's all proven and nothing is opinionated or biased. Getting into the upper-levels, I feel, will be more interesting because the focus will be more narrowed on subjects that I want to learn about.
Favorite Faculty Member: Like last year, there's no doubt that Bethany Mickel has made my college experience, thus far, incredible. She has gone above and beyond to take me under her wing and guide me in the correct path, while providing unforgettable experiences in the process. I treasure the built relationship and have the great feeling of knowing that she truly cares and wants to help in any way possible, from school problems to personal problems.
Thank you!
This scholarship holds a very significant role for my time here at Juniata. My parents have played the support aspect all throughout my life and it's an unbelievable feeling to be able to help them throughout my college education financially. I have always fell back on academics to keep myself going through having something to be compared with my athletic siblings. This scholarship was able to reassure that I was meant to end up here at Juniata and fulfill my dream of furthering my education in med school. Thank you Class of 1969!!
